The A12 is less than a mile away and bypasses Saxmundham so the High Street is relatively quiet. There is a large Waitrose Supermarket and several places to eat including Fish and Chips, Indian, Chinese/Thai, there is pub grub at The White Hart, and the nearby Poachers Pocket, gourmet food at The Bell Hotel a Bistro for lunch plus five take aways if you want to eat in. The nearest pub is less than a minutes walk with three others in the High Street two or three minutes.
The railway station is only 250 yards walk away. There are local buses and a service called Coastlink which if you ring the day before will take and pick you up from the nearby coast and local villages for the price of a bus fare. You don’t have to have a car. Come by train.
Local attractions include nearby towns and villages. Snape with its international concert hall and shopping centre, Aldeburgh with its colourful buildings, Southwold voted Britains favorite seaside resort, Framlingham a delightful village with an impressive castle, Woodbridge on the river Deben, Orford which also has a castle, Thorpeness with a boating lake and an excellent golf course. If you are a birdwatcher the RSPB has its flagship reserve at Minsmere which is only a short drive away. For walkers there are many footpaths with stunning views and varied countryside from heathlands, tidal marshlands with reed beds, coastal walks and woodlands with huge forests at Tunstall, Dunwich and Rendlesham with many country pubs along the way for refreshment and food much of which is locally sourced.
